To pass an emission test with no smog devices on, you gotta spend some time with a fuel-air meter or a non-recording smog machine. Blindly throwing jets at a carb wastes time & money. You'll find that jetting down reduces emissions up to a point, then they skyrocket due to the thing being so lean you get intermittent misfires. It's always helpful to have the motor smoking-hot when they start the test, and maybe having an aux gas tank with a few gallons of 10% methanol/90% gasoline. Just don't leave methanol in a tank very long, or it'll eat all the rubber in the fuel system and corrode most aluminum including float bowls. J DeRyke
