Since the spacer will cause you to no longer run an air filter, or alternatively not run the engine cover, neither which you want to give up, then it seems like this is a non-question for you. When Larry Stock was running a Holley on his stock engine, he had the factory manifold machined out to match up to the ports on the carb. >- Since my car is a GTS, I have always thought that the Holley carb. was standard- mounted from the factory. Nobody ever accused DeTomaso of being too concerned with details such as this. :>) >Were the carb's on american cars (Mustangs etc.) also mounted this way? >>>Remember, U.S. cars had an Autolite carburetor whose contours matched the intake manifold exactly. >- Would it be an advantage - instead of installing the spacer - to install another carb. with 2" secondaries, which the manifold was obviously intended fore? >>>If you're going to do anything at all, you'd be MUCH better off installing a new MANIFOLD, an aluminum one will not only shed unwanted weight, but also give better performance. If you want to keep your stock screen, the Edelbrock Performer is the way to go; if power is what you're after, then the FPP 4145B seems to be the winner. Brand new, the Performer only costs about $160 (much less than a new carb) and plenty of people have them available used, because as owners go to bigger and more powerful motors, the Performer is the first thing that is put aside. A few phone calls to USA vendors might net you something; I know Larry Stock has several of them (one of them used to be mine) and I assume the others would too. As a guess, I'd say that between 2/3 and 3/4 of the Panteras on the road here have a Performer. Is that a pretty fair statement, guys, or do I overstate the case? Mike
