All, Its taken a while to get the monthly blather running again; the different formats of the data on the new server required that I hack some code, so there may be a few bugs this month, but as time goes on, this will improve. Unfortunately, I do not have the complete digests for September 1997 - December 1997 at my web site (www.horizon.com/pantera), but is should be complete for 1998 onwards. A couple of things to note; in the following "Daily Blather II" where I calculate a "hit list" of the months most active & prolific posters, please note that the total number of lines accorded each poster will include blank lines, "attached" messages, etc. Eg, we see that Jack DeRyke may not seem very prolific with a total of 847 lines (as against Mad Dog's 3544 lines), but Jack's posts come without any attachments, and so is "pure" Jack. On the other hand, we see Bo-Bo submitted 901 lines, but as we all know, "the man of few words" rarely writes more than 1 line per post, and thus we can conclude that this volume is due mainly to attached email. So in case all you budding Shakespeares out there look at this and think that maybe you could become the next Steve King at $0.04/word, think about how much original content you add to the list, and how much of it is attached email. By editing down the attached messages to the bare minimum to maintain a thread and continuity, we can cut down on bandwidth and time requirements to read the messages. Shane Ingate, List Admin.
