>yeah!!!! cuddn't a said it better myself. that's why i get p.o.'d when i hear >this "buy american" crap. americans are NOT god's gift to the planet. thanx >for your post. > >dug seed in > Alright, I thought it about time to jump in here. and pretty much agree with the rest, and give my spin on things. The history of this planet has had it's ups and downs. We as Americans are probably the most bastardized community in the entire world. We are the "melting pot" of all nations. If you really want to get down to it, WE are the ones with NO identity. BUT, that is in the past. I was born in America, as many of you were. Some of you weren't and have since moved to America and found perhaps a better life. Does that really mean we ARE better? Maybe so, maybe not. Most recently, people like our own President have tried to publicly apologize for atrocities we as Americans have inflicted on other human beings in our own past. We are no better than other countries/races that have committed similar acts of violence against other people. We cannot re-live the past, we must learn from it and go on. We should not apolgize, the Japanese should not apologize. More than likely, the people most responsible for the violent acts are no longer living, why continue to persecute the later generations. Have we done it with Germany? Do we continualy ask them to apologize for their acts? We should all simply learn from the past and move on into the future respecting each other. Why do I like the Pantera? Because I am extremely familiar with the American powerplant, because I happen to think Itialians are the only people who can do the "wedge" shape and mid-engine mounting of supersport cars. When it comes to Japanese car engineering, hey, we fell down somewhere along the road. They knew exactly when to jump into the market, how to dominate it and once dominated, they stayed ahead. While our auto unions keep asking for more and more money to put lug nuts on wheels, the Japanese are kicking our butt listening to customers. Do I think it's fair? Yup, 'fraid so, do I like it? Not really, but then again, I think Bill Gates has done a pretty fair job of Monopolizing the Software industry, and I don't like that either. I've worked on Mercedes, and you know, they engineered that car pretty darn well, I've worked on Rolls Royce, same story, a couple things I didn't like, but overall, that's what happens with any car, but it was solid. I owned a Mazda RX-2, which was a pretty solid car too, and made in Japan. I try to buy American where I can, but the fact is, in today's market, you never can buy American because some piece of it is made somewhere else. When it comes to American cars, there just isn't anything I've found that pleases me anymore, so what am I going to do? I'm going to buy a Pantera. FWIW, Asa Jay
