The H code 69's came with either a 2V Windsor or Cleveland, however, the M
-code cars came with a 351Cleveland 4V engine. This would have been the
engine in a Mach I. However as with most car assembly at the time, you
could order your Mach I with a different engine, so you could get it with
either Windosr or Cleveland. I don't think I've seen too many 69 Mach I's
with the Cleveland, not sure if that's because the owners have replaced
them or what. I know at least a couple in our club have the Cleveland
engine, so as far as I'm concerned, the 351C was available as early as the
1969 model year, which means you could have been driving one as early as 1968.

FWIW,
Asa Jay
