That was the case when I built the Cleveland for the '66. 0.550" lift
and plenty of room but duration was only 225 degrees at 0.050".
Another advantage of canted valves, I guess.

Cam with plenty of overlap, polished combustion chambers, play
with the spark advance. I chickened out on my first Cleveland build
and opened the heads up to get the compression down to 10.3:1
or so. It never pings and I wished I had just left the heads alone
to get that last bit of compression.
