Mostly it's the size of the components. A Yamaha FZR 1000 piston is 1/4 the weight and 1/3 the size of a 351C. The real mind-blower on these engines is, the crankshaft rod journals and the mains are the same diameter, due to the reduced inertial loads! I'm still trying to get my mind around that one...
