More reliable than *what*? There are plenty of carbs out there that
predate computers, much less EFI.
Various parts on a carb can wear. FI systems have most of the same
parts, and more.
Every carb vs EFI dyno test I've seen on American V8 engines has showed
the carb setup solidly in the lead as far as power. This is, in my
opinion, primarily due to the relatively poor design of most EFI
manifolding, secondarily due to the poor fuel atomization from the
common electric injectors.
Besides, if the Russians decide to nuke the USA, your carbed car will
still start and run, allowing you to escape from the radioactive
mutants. The EFI car's electronics will be fried by the electromagnetic
pulse when the bombs go off.
