EFI oftentimes has different goals... like controlling emissions. I've
heard it said many times (by people who know what they're talking about, as
opposed to me) that it's easier to make a radical engine "driveable" with EFI
than with a carb.

Except that you won't have any spark because the ignition coil(s) got fried
by the same pulse. :-)
