Scott said: "On the event aspect: I am a strong proponent that POCA needs to
support ALL facets of our members desires. On your membership application,
you have the ability to mark off your level of interest in racing, rallying,
concours, technical, trips and social events.
Not everyone loves all of these events. Some of us are dyed-in-the-wool
racers. Others polish the paint on their trailer queens. Some just want to
drive their cars on the open road, while others feel the need to hold up the
bar. The point is WHO THE HELL CARES??!! No matter what or where you fall,
POCA should and does support all areas of desires which our members express.
You say you want a particular event/function/change to happen? Go to a
board meeting, or call a board member. Heck, we're listed for God and
country to see in the masthead of the POCA Newsletter. The POCA board is
here to serve YOU, period, end of story.
Scott and Board Members: I care. When we mark on our membership application
of level of interest in specific activities I would assume that most of us
are indicating our desire to directly participate in those activities. This
is not the same as indicating where we want our club to allocate funds or
what activites we want our board members to focus on. I for one would like
to see our board of directors focused more on performance activities at our
National Convention. I have no criticism of Kent and Sandi's Fun Rally. As a
member of POCA (somewhat like a shareholder) I would like to have our
Natinal Convention a little more focused on Track Events and a little less
concerned about protecting drinking priviledges, karoke and electing Ms
Pantera.
Having served on the boards of several corporations I have never heard a
board member say "Think you can do a better job? Step up to the plate" or
"This kinda reminds me of that bumper sticker which reads "shut-up and drive
it." Get my drift?" to one of our shareholders. We may have thought it but
we did not say it. It does sound a little like my way or no way.
Respectfully, Forest Majors
