Jack-

Thanks for the suggestion on the oil pan. I have a stock 5 (6) quart pan
(I run 6 quarts). Truth be told, when I noticed the guage flickering,
my first thought was, "I wonder how long THAT'S been happening!"

Well, maybe this will become the subject of a tech session, as my chassis
is not sectioned to drop the oil pan. I take it that a removable chassis
piece from Larry will do the trick here? Also, will a 10-quart pan hang
lower than the stock one? I'm wondering about clearance, as the stock
pan is less than 1" above the bottom of the nearby chassis rails, and I'd
really hate to knock the plug out of a shiny new 10-quart pan on some
really bad pavement...
