Hi Max (and anyone else who is interested)
Mike is right; CFRA does put on the track events for PCNC. However,
CFRA is not PCNC. It just happens that most of the administration of
CFRA is done by members of PCNC so we like to consider them a sister
sports car club.
CFRA was formed 5 years ago by 4 members of PCNC (and one nonmember).
We just wanted a group that could attend track events together. This
year we are putting on two track events of our own. We also put on a
Drag Race at Sears Point (we get our own lane) and an autocross or two
(also at Sears Point).
Our club is very private and you can only attend only if you know
someone who is already a member. However, POCA members are granted
special privileges:) We don't advertise our events. We've never had
over 27 cars at any of our track events. The one on July 26th will only
have around 20 cars. If you want plenty of uncrowded track time, come
see us.
Our event will be a lot like the one at Las Vegas, but a longer track
and less cars. We do have a timed qualifying event, but no wheel to
wheel race this year.

conducive to having this kind of event. He lives in San Martin, just
south of San Jose (take 85 to 101 south, it's a few miles past that.)
We used to only have one a year, but they've become so popular we're up
to three or four each year. Next one will be in June or July sometime.
We'd love to have you come out, and we'll help you change your radiator!

track days?
>>>Yes, put on by Ed Kornegay, same fellow who ran the Vegas track event
with such success. PCNC track events (run under the aegis of Checkered
Flag, which is an open-track club that's an offshoot of PCNC) are
typically MORE expensive than those run by other clubs, because the
field is much smaller. Like the old Brooklands racetrack slogan, "The
right crowd, and no crowding." You'll get MUCH more track time in a
given day with Checkered Flag than you will with the Shelby club, NASA,
or Green Flag (the other clubs which regularly hold open tracks in
Nor-Cal.)
I can't remember exactly when the next one is, but I think it's in July
or August at Thunderhill (60 miles north of Sacramento.) I just went to
Thunderhill yesterday with the Shelby club (couldn't go to SS sadly :<(
) and drove the track during the lunchtime drive-around in my GT-350.
It's about three miles long and BITCHIN! Four passing straights,
several diabolical corners, elevation changes, lots of fun!
Ed will have lots more info on this forum later...
Mike
