FWIW:

The regular "standard" room rate at the Plaza over our weekend is $40.00 + 11%
room tax on Sunday thru Thursday nights, and $50.00 + 11% room tax for Friday
and Saturday nights (two night minimum, ie., you must book for two nights.)

One person attending the event paid $60.00 per night thru his travel agent (or
wholesaler); he got a deal!  I was asked if we could get him our rate....the
answer was no.

We paid substantially less as a group.

I am waiting to get our rates for 1999; delayed because the casino didn't have
the take for our weekend yet! 

If you think downtown is bad now, you should have seen it 4 years ago!

BTW, have you checked out the neighborhood around the Showboat?
