Well lets see...heres what I would think would shave weight for a street car

carbon fiber hood
carbon fiber deck lid
aluminum heads

that would make a pretty light streetable car...

a race car of course could dispense with the interior down to metal and
replace the drivers seat with a shell.  Replace the rear window with lexan.
Replace the wet battery with a dry cell (are those lighter?  I dunno).  Of
course a race car would probably have to carry a rollcage so that would add
weight back.
