Calif. People,

In a recent Hot Rod magazine (May I think; I saw it in the library and didn't write it down) there was an article on smog laws. Two points were made:

1) Under the current CA inspection exemption for '73 and earlier, there is no exemption for the visual inspection/tampering part of the law. So, if you get stopped in a rodeside inspection or an automated onramp detector, you could be cited and forced to put the car back to stock (even if that increases the polution) no matter how much it costs!

2) There is a bill (forget the number) to do away with the visual inspection (don't know if it's just for older cars) and go just by tail pipe. It was supposedly passed by both houses but rejected by Gov. Wilson and currently going through the process again.

Anyone know about either of these. If 2 is true, we need to get behind it.
Also, comment was made that as CA goes, so goes the nation.
