to all intents most people would not notice the difference between the two
motors (as has already been mentioned) However the W does not have the ugly
oil pressure switch stareing you in the face when you open the lid. 
Having owned P's with both  C and W engines  I would still have the W . They
sound the same . The oiling system is superior on the Windsor and likewise the
cooling system  which runs coolant in the manifold and certainly runs cooler
!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have not come across a W with cooling problems.
Not sure about  a direct swap for a/c and alternator brackets although I see
no problem as they are mounted in the same place as the C
The  stat housing however looks much neater and not like an afterthought.
