Mike Cook quoted me about $300 to restore my crappy-looking 7s and 8s.
Seems like a deal to me. Just wanted to check with the list to be sure. >>
>>>Well, it all depends on what you mean when you say 'restore.' Inspired by
a letter from Doug Kelm, Jack and I are together cooking up a comprehensive
story on full-on Campy restoration. Larry Stock has about a dozen wheels that
are receiving the full treatment, to include comprehensive Zyglow inspection
by a firm that does QC work for NASA and Lockheed, et al, as well as some
Magnesium welding by a friend of Jack's who works in the aerospace industry.
We're all learning about these wheels as they move from one shop to the next.
Larry's spending a ton on money on these wheels (between the media blasting,
zyglow, welding, and powdercoating), but we don't have the final figures in
yet. A camera is accompanying the wheels as they move from one shop to the
next, so the article should be pretty excellent.
Hopefully we'll have it in a POCA newsletter in the next 2-3 months.
