To All,

Just a note to let you know that John Woods (the guy in Vegas from England
with the Detomaso Logo on his arm) made it into a UK car magazine called "Top
Gear". There is an article on "Cheap Supercars" and there is an article on
John and his car as well as a Longchamp article.

The article is great, but what is the deal with stuff in the UK? I love
looking through the ads about cars for sale and stuff and I am really
bewildered. Why is stuff so expensive there? There was an ad for window
tinting on cars. Prices started, yes started!, at 300 Pounds (thats $525
FOLKS!). I had my Pantera tinted for $65! A freind just had his 1998
Firebird tinted for $145.

I died when I saw that John had paid 15,000 Pounds ($26,250!) for his
completely rusted out Pantera. If you have seen pictures of his unbelieveable
restoration, he hand fabricated nearly every body part! There was nothing
left to save!

Car ads for dinky little econo-box cars like a Dodge Neon at 13, 795 Pounds
($24,141) for a car that cost $10,000 here! I thought maybe because a Dodge
is considered an import there. So I checked another ad for a car, a Renault
Clio (very small economy car - unavailavable here) it was the cheapest new car
in the book at 8000 Pounds ($14,000) and looked like it would fit on an
average coffee table. We can buy cars similar to that here in the states for
half that price!

Hey, you guys in the UK! Whats the deal?

Jim Demick
