DeTomaso Mailing List: August 98, Message #174

I just finished attempting to put these D*** things on last Friday 
night.
I tried every conceivable way to get that  retainer clip springy on 
WITH NO SUCCESS.  I just installed my suspension yesterday and find 
that there is a kind
of locking position between the top of the boot and the ball joint 
housing....
A large part of the problem is we are dealing with a boot that is 
loaded with grease!
I don't have the sway bar on yet , nor is the car on the ground but I 
suspect the boot will stay in place when it is in the 'resting' 
position.
I'll bet you're having the same trouble also.

Does anyone have any first hand experience with the after market
replacement dust covers for front upper ball joints?
