AutoXing my Datsun 510 long ago, we were allowed to take a
passenger (another registered driver)...the first run went well,
and I could feel the advantage of his shifting weight. He would
lean behind me on left turns, and hug the door on right turns....
(Sidecar Monkey style)
On the second run, entering the tight left turn, he went blank
forgetting to lean WAY behind me...I was running faster, and turned
and even tighter arc....If you know how "Go-Cart-ish" a 510
suspension can be, you would not be surprised...as I was...
as both inner wheels came up....way up.....riding on the two right
tires, I S L O W L Y straighten out and gently (SLAM) came back down...
I hit no cones, and actually turned in a good time, but "they"
decided to DNF me anyway....and that was the end of "Ride-Alongs" !
(An ad didn't appear later: 4 Koni shocks slightly used.)
