The only problem with eating Rattle Snake or virually any for that
matter, is that there isn't enough real meat and way too many bones,
cartalage or whatever. I had it as a kid while back packing, the
unlucky thing crossed our path more than once on this outing, so we
killed him for it. Tasted ok, but like I said was still hungry after
eating for an hour......So we then went fishing to make up the
difference.

The common American rattlesnake is actually quite good. The meat is
lean and not chewy or stringy, and has what the gourmet types call a
"delicate" flavor. It's a better meat than venison, which isn't bad, a
hell of a lot better than squirrel, and as far as I'm concerned, no part
of a sheep or clam is edible.
Some people have this unreasoned prejudice against snakes, but that's
fine, it leaves more for me...
