I agree. I have a 74 and when I put a breakerless ignition in the car, I
didn't realize that it had a ballast resistance wire in the harness. On an
earlier car you run without the resistor on the firewall. On the 74s there is
no ceramic resistor, but a resistor wire leading up to the coil. When I
hooked up my breakerless system, the car ran poorly above 4500 RPM. Once I
found out about the "resistor" wire and disconnected it, the car ran great!!!
