DeTomaso Mailing List: October 98, Message #174

Hi everyone,


I'm brand spankin' new to the Wonderful World of Panteras, and
since I'm now on this mailing list, I just wanted to take a sec 
to introduce myself.

I bought #2428 about 3 weeks ago here in Sacramento from a fella
who acquired the car through a real estate deal.  (His garage was
already brimming with a Testarosa, 348, Porche, Rolls Royce, and two
motorcycles!)  It's a red, straight, rust-free pre-L car with 63k
miles on it.  It needs a bit of updating and restoring, but nothing
major.  I've had it to the local 1/4 mile track and on a dyno, so
I've got some good baseline numbers to start from.  I'm really
looking forward to restoring (and racing!) this fine Italian beauty.

One last thing...

I've been very impressed by the quality and openness of all the
Pantera people.  Rick Carlisle, current prez of the Capitol Panteras 
club, was particularly helpful, as he selflessly poured over the car
and gave me an honest appraisal of the car.  It's people like Rick,
and the members of the clubs, that make owning these cars even more 
fun and exciting.  I can't wait till next year's SSCC!
