Sounds like you're not getting fuel for some reason. And I can give you one
large reason to switch from Motorcraft to Holley: virtuaslly no one knows how
to work on the Motorcrafts, which were not well regarded even 20 yrs ago when
they were new. Carb o'haul kits are few & far between as well. If you continue
to defy gravity & run this, Larry Stock of PPC may be able to help as he ran
an 'Invention-of-the-devil' Motorcraft for some time before sobering up and
going Holley. Some hints: there is a 'sock' filter in the fuel tank on the
outlet that often becomes clogged with varnish and is non-replaceable on
'71-72 Panteras. '73s & up, the fuel outlet is part of the gas gauge sending
unit & can be removed for cleaning or discarded entirely. For early cars:
attach an air line to the fuel outlet (gas cap off) and CAREFULLY blow into
the tank. This, if done right, will rupture the clogged sock & allow
sufficient fuel to flow. Done wrong, you rupture the tank, at enormous
replacement cost! After doing this, run an inline filter with a cleanable
element. Good luck- J DeRyke
