Hello Everyone,
One of our SDP members had a question regarding the mailing in of the POCA
Board Election ballot. I forwarded the question on to Monique Eriksen, one of
the two members of the official POCA Board Election Committee. She replied
and asked me to put the following explanation out to the Forum. If you have
any additional questions, you can e-mail her directly at "eriksendm@aol.com".
             Bill

the ballot. It will be counted as a valid ballot. It is not necessary to use
an envelope in this case. There is no return address sticker enclosed- return
ballot to address printed on reverse side, postmarked by Dec 15.

 Thanks for your help-

Hi Bill-
Disneyland was great! Thanks to both of you for inviting us. DF had a great
time too. I enjoyed meeting Donna and visiting with you. Donna F. got home
ok- LAX wasn't bad at all.

Thanks for sending this "problem"to me. This is what happened:
1. The original plan was to enclose a return mailing address label addressed
to me at the PO Box. The instructions reflect this. However, the stickers
were not provided, so we re-copied the back side of the ballots to include the
return address and deadlines (at no cost to POCA). This appeared to be the
most expedient and cost effective way to proceed.
2. The plan was to enclose a mailing label with member/assoc. member name and
membership number (number is used to verify eligibility of the associate
member) to be used by the member as the return address of the sender. The
instructions reflect this. That is how I prepared my portion of the ballots.
Randy prepared his portion by placing the sticker directly on the back of the
ballot.
Please advise your member to leave the sticker in place on the ballot. It
will be counted as a valid ballot. It is not necessary to use an envelope in
this case.
Bill, as a former POCA Board member, I know that you are well aware of the
time and energy that we put in as volunteers. I would also remind you that I
am not a member of the current Board of Directors of POCA- the Election
Committee is an appointed, voluntary position. As such, members who are
interested in being involved in actively participating in their club are able
to volunteer. Perhaps they would then have more appreciation for the job that
others are trying to do. My point is, neither I, nor any other POCA member,
has the power to discipline the others when a task is not fulfilled as
expected. When people are working together over great distances, under the
pressure of a deadline, sometimes all the pieces don't come together exactly
the way one person envisioned and changes have to be made. It would have
delayed the mailing of the ballots and raised the cost to have the
instructions re-worded and reprinted to accomodate changes made after the
printing. We have at least 50 ballots returned to date- I guess that they
were able to figure it out.
If you get any more questions, feel free to give out the advice in #2- please
post the info below on the internet if you would.
POCA Members: If your ballot has the label with your name/associate member
name, membership number, address affixed to it, leave the sticker in place on
the ballot. It will be counted as a valid ballot. It is not necessary to use
an envelope in this case. There is no return address sticker enclosed- return
ballot to address printed on reverse side, postmarked by Dec 15.

Thanks for your help-
Monique
