Hee hee, I keep forgetting about Shane's "Leaky smoke" theory
of electrics, they really help clear things up!

Which gives me an idea for something someone could do when
they are immensely bored. Come up with a "year-
end retrospective" on the highs and lows of this list over the
past year (or two). The D-Mann and Iguana sandwiches. Mad
Dog's bet with Doddek on whether he'd make it to Vegas. I am
afraid to ask if there is such a thing as a fast car or if there are
only fast drivers (or whatever that question was). Shane's (I hope
I am giving credit where it is due) fantastic explanation of leaky
smoke being the true cause of failure that most people assume to
be electric problems, mounting black holes on the front of your
car to suck up laser-radar guns and drive through space time
continuums, go-nancy, the spelling Nazi, you gotta spell check
that one, the list is endless. Anyone bored?

2) the alternator windings can produce the power needed, but the rectifier
diodes cannot handle passing that much current. One or more diodes
burn out (leak their smoke) and the alternator pretty much rolls
over and plays dead. Depending upon the failure mode,
