It is just an urban legend.  Never happened.  In fact Motor Trend or one of
those mags had a write up about this being a hoax.

	When I first heard this one 2 or 3 years ago, I went over to the
guys
	in the armament department and got the JATO bottle specs.  Made
	a few assumptions about the drag of a '67 Impala and calculated a
	theoretical top speed.  Unless the guy had mounted multiple JATO
	bottles, there's no way he could hit anywhere near 350 mph.  Most 
	likely just an urban legend.
