I've been saved! Not in the biblical sense, since I'm
pretty sure I'm a lost cause in that regard, but in the
radiator-with-a-hole-in-it sense, which is just as good.
I called up Larry Stock yesterday afternoon to see what
my options might be, but before I could say anything
he asked me, "I heard you got a leak in your radiator.
Did you get my email?"
"Uhhhhh, aparently not. When did you send it?"
"Last night."
"Hmmm. Nope, I don't remember seeing it. What did it say?"
"Basically that whatever caused the leak, we can fix it
for you. Don't worry about it."
And then we went on to talk about how UPS keeps obliterating
the radiators he sends to people, and that they're running
out of creative packaging ideas to keep them safe from the
kickball games the the Boys in Brown obviously play while
grabbin' a smoke at the warehouse.
It turned out that the vendor he has making these radiators
is right here in Sactomato! Larry gave them a call after
talking to me and cleared the exchange. Then that night
I took out the old/new/busted radiator to exchange it
today. (Ya know, it's truly astounding how quickly I got
that thing out of the car... only took about 20 minutes to
drain the fluid, AGAIN, and disconnect the two hoses from
front pipes. Experience, I guess.)
So, I just got back from the shop and my new-new radiator
is in the trunk! I could still be up and running by the
end of today!!
I would like to take a quick second to say how truly generous
and awesome Larry has been about this. Not only did he
*personally* drop off the original radiator to my house
last month, but even volunteered to drop *another* one off
the next time he swings by. In that mail that he sent,
which I later discovered under the subject "Returned Mail:
Host unknown...", he gave me his home number and said to
give him a call. (This was at 7:30 PM on a Sunday!) This
level of support and helpfulness is inspiring as a Pantera
enthusiast, and rarely seen anywhere else. I'm so not used
to being treated this well. I can't thank him enough. He
turned my frown upsidedown! Thank you, Larry.
