AUTOMOTIVE FINE ARTS SOCIETY ARTIST CHOSEN TO HONOR CARROLL SHELBY ON
EVENT POSTER
December 8, 1998-Dallas- Automotive Fine Arts Society (AFAS) member
Bill Neale has been commissioned to paint a poster honoring legendary
driver and automotive manufacturer Carroll Shelby for the 1999 Amelia
Island Concours d'Elegance at the Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island on March
19 through 21. Neale, as well as other AFAS members, will display
original works at one of the best automotive art shows in the United
States. AFAS is one of the most prestigious organizations in the
world, boasting artists whose works are sought by art connoisseurs and
auto enthusiasts across the globe.
"The Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance has become one of the most
respected shows in North America because it attracts some of the most
beautiful cars and art ever produced," said Bill Warner, Event
Chairman. "This year's show will be even more special as we are
joined by Mr. Shelby and many of his most famous cars."
Shelby will sign the limited edition posters, which will sell for $50
each. The original painting will be auctioned at a gala dinner on
Saturday, March 20 to benefit Hospice Northeast.
"I'm proud to be honorary chairman of one of the finest collections of
vintage and classic cars ever assembled for a Concours event," said
Mr. Carroll Shelby. "AFAS has always supported the National
Children's Auto Art Contest which benefits my Carroll Shelby
Children's Foundation. So it's fitting one of AFAS' most-respected
artists, Bill Neale, will create a poster commemorating my
accomplishments. It is an honor for the poster to be displayed
alongside pieces by artists such as Ken Dallison, Bill Motta, Ken
Eberts and Richard Pietruska.
Amid the Concours' automotive sculptures, AFAS members will debut new
works at the organization's first show of the year. Water colors,
oils and sculptures will be offered exclusively to event participants
during the show.
AFAS was established in 1983 by a group of artists who are
acknowledged by critics to be among the best in any field. Members
work in many diverse mediums including oil paintings, watercolors,
ceramics, clay and metal. AFAS participates in select shows across
the country including the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, Cavallino
and the Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance.
