I did the same thing over a year ago, with AAA. The DMV wanted me to make
an appointment, etc. AAA said I could drive on in. Showed them the build
plate on the car--that was all I needed. Took less than 5 minutes, and
received the new registration less than 2 weeks later. Of course, mine was
actually a 73 instead of a 74 ;), and there must have been a mix up with
the previous owner. You know how the value of these collector cars are
dependent and getting all of the numbers correct, and of course, since the
build plate on mine said OCT 73, well, it must have really been a 73 ;). I
did my switch on the day that the SB42 passed.
