Just got off the phone with Stephane Poux, DeTomaso France regarding repairing my alternator or buying a new one. Guess how much new alternators cost in France! 

FOUR HUNDRED FIFTY-FOUR DOLLARS AND 54 CENTS!!!!

You've gotta be joking! I could air-freight one in from the US hand-carried by bikini-clad supermodels for less money! Well, ok, maybe not, but jeez! I think I paid $80 or something for this one from Collector's Choice last year. Choice number two is to mail mine to DeTomaso france to have it rebuilt, which will be less expensive but he can't tell me ahead of time how much it'll be (he doesn't know exactly what has to be replaced). Option #3 is to have one air-freighted from the US carried by bikini-clad supermodels. I'll call Cory this afternoon and see if he can give me an estimate on air-freight costs. And see if he has a line on bikinis...

I am certainly enjoying my time in France but there are times when it could really use a good NAPA or Pep Boys or something....
