The logic behind this (It had to be explained by the cop...) is with
both ears covered you might be less likely to hear emergency vehicles.

I responded that no hearing test was required, but that made no points,
except that he pulled out his night stick...offering to test my ears.  He
did
show me where in my copy of the Penal code this law is. He didn't have
his book handy.

At the time I was stalking...um....reviewing public safety activities, with
a scanner running....I had on those "open foam" headphones, and I
made it a point to talk to him, while STILL wearing them, radio running.  It
didn't
matter....even when I could hear HIS police radio over his running engine
and he could not.  (Back before hand held radios.)

Then he "educated" me about wrap around glasses.....You can't
drive with glasses with anything blocking the view at your temple.
That fact that my glasses have a clear panel, and my peripheral vision
is not impaired didn't matter.  They happened to be Smith & Wesson
shooting glasses didn't make this anti-gun cop happy either.
