I am considering lowering my floorpan to improve comfort and allow me
to wear a helmet in my first limited club racing experiences this
year. I know we've discussed this issue before, but I have a couple
of specific questions.
First, I'm 6'1" and 200 lbs, and have stock seats that have been
recovered. I wil also look at reworking the seat to improve headroom.
1. For those who simply cut the rear of the floor under the seat and
lowered it with a triangular piece, do you hit the steering wheel with
your knees? How does that angle affect line of sight, pedals, etc.
2. It is better to lower the entire floorpan?
3. Will I upset the car's balance if I only lower the driver's side?
4. How will lowering the floor only underneath the rear of the seat
(like in question 1) affect my carpeting?
Lastly, Frank Jerome completely rebuilt my suspension, motor and ZF
recently. He also made sure the brakes work well and installed heater
hose shut-of valves. Other than looking at my brake pads, replacing
the brake fluid and checking the coolant system, what should a 1st
timer do to prepare?
