| Subject: | removing the upright revisited |

Jeez.
What a pain in the arse.
I doused those drive shaft nuts with liberal amounts
of WD-40 and let them soak a while. Then I used the
make-your-wrench-longer method of loosening them,
and wha-lah! They came off. Yipee!
But it wasn't until everything was (almost) apart that
I realized I required some special tool (or maybe just Bo Bo)
to separate the upper ball joint bolt from the upper A-frame.
Drats!! So I did the next best thing... removing the entire
upper A-frame. The problem there was that the left bolt
was put through its hole from right to left, BEFORE the shock
and spring were put in. Consequently, I couldn't remove that
bolt and slide the whole upright dealy out of the car.
So off came the shock, then out came the half-ton upright, then
back went the shock, then off went the lights as I hurled myself
to sleep at 11:30 with black grime under my fingernails. :-)
Aaah... all in all, not a bad way to spend an evening. Really!
