Its not the electrics thats the pain. The two dashboards use different
heater/A/C evaporator enclosures. I think the actual dashes interchange but
you'll wind up with no defrosters. You also gotta pair the late dash with the
late console or there's a giant gap between the parts. There may be a problem
with the cable controls, too. So you basically need a whole stock interior!
MIke Drew did this swap (late dash in a pre-L) and as I remember, it wasn't
easy- or cheap. On the other hand, swapping pre-L bumpers onto an L leaves a
huge hole in each fender from the 5mph rams, plus there's an area of
overlapping sheet metal pieces at the front corners that's metal-finished on
the pre-Ls but left naked & ugly on the L, since its normally hidden under the
big L bumper. Re-designs are never easy.... Cheers- J DeRyke
