Correct; any modern hi-output alternator built in the past decade or so was
designed to run with a flat-belt drive, not a vee-belt. That not only means
you gotta pull the pulley & substitute your old one (which may or may not
fit), in a serpentine drive, the alternator spins backward to our vee-belt
units. There IS a field-wire brush in the rear of any alternator and I'm not
sure if it's angled to one side or another to favor the designed-for direction
of rotation. More questions.... J DeRyke
