The fabricated one I installed (in 1989) is in the exact same location as
stock and is retained by the suspension nuts. Looking at the factory-optional
removable crossmember from 1975, it appears that it also is held in by the
lower a-arm bolts. Any bolts put across the longitudinal frame rails should
have tube inserts welded in cross-wise to keep from collapsing the existing
rails when you tighten down on the new bolts. Cheers- J DeRyke
