Dan and Others:
First thanks for the quick responses... Dan, I agree with your assessment on
the cam and carb combination. I was able to get most of the specifications
for the cam off of their web page. The valve lift is .492 and the advertised
duration is 256 which leads me to another question. What the hell is
advertised duration?
The web specs also state that it has an LC of 112.... assume that they are
talking about degrees of lobe separation?
Although I would not have selected this specific cam I thought that it would
have been OK for a street engine given the 4V heads ability to breath. The
dual plane performer has the correct ports for the 4V heads so that should
be OK.
Will call Isky directly but thought that some of our guys might have a
recommendation on setting the advance. Seems like I remember Jack talking
about the optimum advance curve should be 38 degrees advanced. This guy also
got a dual point Accel distributor and we could set the advance curve to
off initial advance.
The engine and components that this guy got all look or are brand new, out
of the box. Thought that he got a great deal even if the components are not
the optimum specifications...
Thanks again.... Forest Majors
