I want to compile a set of the most commonly used standard fasteners and
metric fasteners for a Pantera. In Hadlyme Connecticut buying a single
standard bolt is extraordinarily expensive and finding a metric bolt is
impossible. I have purchased kits in the past but they were to limited in
their selection. Therefore I would like to acquire and maintain a set of
both standard and metric fasteners that you guys recommend.
Based on my limited research I would think that a Metric assortment would
probably use M6 through M10 hex head bolts with a thread pitch of 1.25 and
1.5 in assorted lengths with a property class of at least 8.8. It is my
understanding that medium carbon steel that has been quenched and tempered
is superior to stainless steel. Of course any assortment should have a set
of socket head bolts (smaller range) and some stainless steel acorn nuts to
dress up the Pantera. What I don't know is the most commonly used sizes for
bolts, nuts and especially acorn nuts to dress up the transaxle, etc. Would
appreciate feed back on this.
Although standard fasteners are more readily available I would also like to
put together an assortment for these rascals too. Any and all
recommendations would be appreciated. I would be pleased to compile all
information that I get and resubmit to the forum.
Thanks.... Forest Majors
