Brock,  that "thingy" is a resistor, in this case a current limiting
resister.  it should be on the circuit for your charge indicator light.
More specifically one end should be to the Blue/Black wire side of the charge
lamp, the other end should go to the White wire side of your charge light.
Being a ceramic resistor, it doesn't matter which end as which.  If you have
a wiring diagram, its the Box with the "squiggly thing" directly above the
the charge indicator lamp on the Speedo.
