Since from your description, the former 'Goose owner sounds like a flake, the
'overheated' gearbox was probably overfilled. When it heated up normally, the
extra oil oozed out of the breather. You're doing the right thing going thru
the car from one end to the other before trying to drive it..... FYI, ZF
gearboxes when properly filled with 80W90 gear oil do not overheat in anything
less than full-on IMSA or LeMans competition; then, a small oil radiator and
circulating pump fixes the problem, ala GT-40. Cheers- J DeRyke
