I'm curious which 'raw forgings you are referring to?
The reason I did not recommend any speedshop kit is because, they
typically use re-ground Ford 400m cast cranks.
in my case, mine cracked at the rear journal with less than 2000
miles. upon inspection it had MULTIPLE hairline cracks. when it was
returned to the dealer they said "we've never had one break before, YOU
must have screwed it up" Quite a bold statement! particularly when the
prior history of the crank is not known.
It has come to my attention that other motors (making good power) with
one of these re-grinds, have suffered the same failure in the same
position.
Unless you can afford a forged crank, my recommendation was a STEEL
crank specifically cast for this application. (Its already a lot closer
to being balanced too).
I want to keep my stroker set-up, but don't want anyone to get burned
like I did.
