Hey Doug,

I bought a couple of 600 cfm Edelbrock's to put on a tunnel ram for my
daughters Pro Street Ranger truck. I swear it's my daughters truck -
honest! Anyway, before I could get them on the truck, the Holley "crapped
out" on the T-Bucket. It's got a 327 Chevy - nothing serious. Just cute.
Well, I wanted to get to a cruise night that night with the car so I took
one of the Edelbrocks out of the box and put it on. Worked fine - out of
the box! Minor tweeking but nothing serious. Would I run it on my 351?
Sorry. Not me. The "cleveland" has some minor work done to it.
Basically it's a refreshed motor with some 30 over "flattop" TRWs, a cam
and some head work. But the "desktop dyno" recommeds that I go with at
least a 750 - 780 cfm carb. I'll make that a Holley with mechanical
secondarys. Oh sh**! That's going to start the whole business up again
about the vacs vs mech isn't it. Well, to kill that - I would like to go
to a weber setup. Not so much for the performance, I just love the way
they look!

Bud

hi rick (and all),

tell me about yer carb - a speed shop here is recommending this to me over
a
holley, for the same reason you cite, no power valve, and also, a nice
compromise between vacuum & mech'l secondaries.

my question is which size didja use? one school sez 600-650 is all ya need
on a
mild street motor, another sez ya still need at least 750 on a mild street
motor, and if set-up rite you won't lose lo-end driveability.

comments, anyone?

thanks,
