dear bill, I PERSUADED my lower support shaft out in this manner.
#1 first i was able to slide a hack saw blade in the space between the
hub carrier and the lower sus.arm
#2 move blade back and forth rapidly for what seems like an eternity,a hint
,your fingers cut much more readily than the steel.
#3 when you have seperated the carriers take a piece off very hard steel
same size as shaft, support carrier firmly. place the steel ram you have
made against the shaft that is still in the carrier, apply penatrating
solvents/oils liberaly , the next step is the most important
#4 take a large hammer or small mall (3 lb or so) , you may need to
heat the carrier shaft to ease extraction, AND POUND THE SHIT OUT OF
IT!!!!!!!!!!!
not very pretty but i worked for me good luck
