| Subject: | Extra Quart & Accumulator |

All,
My anecdotal track experience does not justify the extra quart of oil. I should know, having mosquito-fogged the Pahrump track and not added oil all day, I was actual 1qt below full without problems ;-)
I instead use an oil accumulator and Gary Hall's fairly simple sheet-metal 10 Qt pan. I also feed oil directly from the filter output to the rear of the engine, just to be sure the #5 rear main bearing and the oil gallery junction there are well fed. The vertical-mount style from Moroso is only about $50, and add about another $25-50 for plumbing. I have never had any bottom-end problems and have many track miles on Comp T/A R1s.
I actually worry that an extra quart would exacerbate problems by foaming the oil and introducing air into the pickup.
FWIW,
