Thomas,
I used a combination of body filler and JB Weld (you can get it in large
(10 oz?) tubes at Pep Boys for about $10). I used the JBW in a large
deep pocket on the wheel arch and a few other places. It's harder to
spread and work with, but should last forever. I didn't have at the
time, but would now recommend, one of the metal filled body fillers. I
used Evercoat's "Metal-2-Metal". I used it for most of the external
bodywork. Then finish up the small details with a Polyester glaze.
One caution. I've seen filler blistered up in areas above the mufflers
in at least one car. I plan to put come kind of insulation above the
mufflers to prevent this.
I admire your use of lead. I didn't have the patients for it.
