Charlie, for shits and giggles you may want to test the speed of your fans 
to.  While the car is running, add an additional ground lead to the closest 
spot you can on the ground wire going to the fan.  See if the rpm of the fan 
increases.  Then do the same with the hot/power wire. Run the power wire 
direct from the battery and connect as close to the fan as possible.  If the 
speed increases, you have a bad connection, or need to rewire the fans.  The 
second was the case with my car.  Early 71 needed all new wiring, but 
increased fan speed by at least 50%.  Use at least 10 guage wire to do your 
testing and or re-wiring if needed.
