Any advice on how to determine weather a '71 is still equipped with an original
boss 11:1 CR engine would be greatly appreciated.

Also, when did the installation of the boss engine cease? Is it possible
to tell weather a Pantera was a boss car by its # or otherwise? 

All I can figure out so far is that:

all pre-L's were boss cars

all '71's were pre-L's

some '72's are L cars.

Please correct me if this is an oversimplification. It can't be that
easy. Then, of course, I would have to tackle the question of whether
a particular supposed boss car still has the boss engine, which gets
back to my original question. blah, blah,
