Boss installation never began so it never ceased. Early Panteras were
fitted quench head 4V's but that's it.

No, they were standard issue quench 4V's with cast pistons and a weak cam.
72 to 74 models got the CJ cam, open chamber heads and dished pistons.
You can tell if you have quench or open chamber heads by checking the
casting numbers.
