One more thing--the motor and gear drive (but not the rest of the mechanism I 
don't think) are FRENCH in origin and common to period Citroens, etc.

Thus if you've smoked a motor (a possibility, although unlikely unless you 
just HELD the switch for a long time without the window moving) you should be 
able to get a replacement very very easily!  They cost almost $200 new from 
the USA vendors; don't be surprised if you can get one in a junkyard for $5!
